Disney Reveals First EVER Attraction at Sea Coming Soon on the Disney Wish

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish, is setting sail in summer 2022, and we’ve already gotten a peek inside! At the Once Upon a Disney Wish event, Disney revealed that the ship will have the first EVER Disney attraction at sea!

AquaMouse will take guests straight into the world of animated Mickey Mouse shorts kind of like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney's Hollywood Studios!

In this attraction, you’ll join “Mickey and Minnie on an exhilarating water adventure into a colorful cartoon world inspired by the famous Mickey Mouse animated shorts.”

The attraction is specifically based on an original story called Scuba Scramble.

The journey will start when you board the 2-seater ride vehicle. You’ll then “ascend into a magical tunnel that will teleport into the cartoon world of ‘Scuba Scramble.'” The new animated short will actually play out through oversized virtual portholes.

In Scuba Scramble, Mickey and Minnie have started their own excursion company and they want you to be among their first guests on an exciting adventure to Mermaid Lagoon!

Along the way, guests will encounter lots of sea creatures and even some familiar Disney characters!

What is the name of Mickey and Minnie’s excursion company? Well it’s actually called “Port Misadventures.” As their name indicates, things on this excursion “inevitably (and hilariously) go awry.”

What exactly will the attraction feature? Well, Disney has shared that there will be “‘immersive’ show scenes, music, lighting and special effects.” There will also be some special surprises along the way! In the image below, it looks like you can see some parts of the attraction where water is being sprayed and some scenes are being shown on the sides of the tunnel.

There will actually be more than 60 water effects in the ride and it will all be synched to “an original musical score by Emmy-nominated composer Christopher Willis,” known for his work on The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse.

According to Disney, “At the height of the show, guests will blast out of the tunnel and embark on a wild water ride around the upper decks. First, they’ll zip into the forward funnel through an enclosed tube surrounded by dazzling lighting effects, followed by a quick dash through a dark tunnel that opens up to reveal breathtaking views of the ocean.”

Then, guests will “jet up and down a series of speed blasters as they are propelled toward the grand finale: a soaring loop over the edge of the ship, with clear views down to the deep blue sea.”

The ride will end with a sendoff message from Mickey and Minnie, and then a splash into a lazy river! All in all, guests will go through 760 feet of winding tubes around the upper decks.

You can see part of the ride and its tubes working their way around the ship on the image above. On Disney’s deck plans, you can also see the location of the AquaMouse on Deck 13 of the ship.
